Wait, that's not all-American. That's the all-tournament team for nationals. There's a huge difference between that list for volleyball and mcdonalds all americans for basketball. All that list means is that u are the best hitter on a team that did good at nationals. There's very little selection process compared to actual all American awards for other sports

Most of this is from the other IL thread:
A lot of the final 8 teams get gutted by graduation so there is going to be a big power shift next year.
Seniors graduated:
Provi - 11
GBN - 11
Bro Rice - 9
WWS - 2
GBE - 9
Neuqua - 6
OPRF - do I care?
BG - 8
GBE graduates a lot of kids but many of the kids left were the heart and soul of this year's team; Jones, Lovik, Dabrowski, and Kunberger.
Neuqua returns Menendez, Bauer, and a lot of their back row, and Hedrick should fill in nicely somewhere next year.
BG loses Ascher and their Libero Bronson, two all staters. Based on their performance of the rest of their team at state this year, they will fade out of the top 15 or so teams and be a non factor next year, although they may slip downstate out of an easy sectional again.
Rice and GBN lose all of their starters, and Provi only returns 2 starters. I wouldn't count on anything special coming from them next year.
As we all know by now, WWS returns EVERYBODY except Hardek and their libero Williams. Despite all of the acclaim Hardek has gotten this year, he is really not a major loss, especially when you consider all the talent coming through that school.
I think Nap Central loses their best guys and LT graduates 12 seniors so they will be weak next year.
Nap North loses Bunge. Sandburg loses Pollock. Other guys will have to step up.
HC graduates Netisingha, Dodd, Johnson, and Everette, but returns many strong juniors including Jordan Williams, who should be DOMINANT next year. The skill of the supporting cast has yet to be seen.
I seem to remember someone saying that New Trier was young this year? They should be tough as usual.

Jordan doesn't have as much volleyball skill as some of the other top guys but what he lacks in experience he makes up for with raw athleticism. He's not the strongest kid but when you're touching 11'4" who cares? Hell, I thought he was more valuable than Pat Dodd for us in the front row this year, and Pat was 2nd team all state I think. He will improve a ton this club season and I predict him being all state next year.
And tLove is right; any halfway decent setter can set outside well enough to work with, especially that high.

I didn't say he wasn't good. Just when u call him an all American and list 15 players it makes it seem like ur calling him top 15 in the nation but he's not. I can guareentee u that all the hitters on balboa bay and pali are all better than neil but they couldnt make the list due to number constraints (4 from champions, 3 from runner up, 2 from semifinal losers and 1 from quaterfinal losers).

Yeah when I think about it he'll beat out mueller for the #3 OH, but it's iffy whether or not he can beat out Lovik or Nystrom. They're all such different players; Nystrom is huge but slow and has no hops; Lovik is small (I think like 6'1" or 2") but very powerful, and Jordan is in between them in size but has great hops (gets higher than both of them despite Neill being 4 or 5 inches taller) but he is the least powerful of the three. It really depends on what they are looking for in the Mizuno lineup. One thing against Jordan is that he has played virtually no back row in his life so if they're looking for an all around OH then Williams will probably end up on Runbird again.

1. Aren't the rosters set as of the Waynz World Qualifier for both of the 17 Spri Teams?
2. If you want an excellent all around player to move up to 17 Mizuno from a Spri club team, how about Tyler Gustafson (Glenbard North, All DuPage Valley Conference Team) from Runbird?
3. Noticed many of the SPRI staff at many High School events.....still time to put a non frozen player on another club into the SPRI lineupS
4. Anyone who watched Neill at IHSA knows he had a few digs.....45 for the season...true he's not a Paul Carroll, Matt Anderson, or Sean Rooney when it comes to the back row..... but anyone that saw him blocking Ascher, Padden, Daliege, et al....and putting down 6 - 15 kills a game know that he's a tower of power on the front line. Every player has their foibles...did I mention EVERY?

Not trying to start an argument here just simply stating the facts. While playing Bro Rice Neil had 1 block, for Providence had 0 blocks, for Buffalo Grove had 2 blocks. So he never blocked Padden (rarely lined up against him), never blocked Daliege (never even attempted to block a quick), and maybe blocked Ascher twice. Also 6-15 kills a game not really. Had 7 against rice, 7 against Provi, and 6 against BG. Not saying that he is a bad player but just that IL VB DAD overexaggerated his numbers and he isn't a tower of power on the front line.

Neil Nystrom has the potential in the next 9 months to become one of the most dominant outside hitters in the state next year. He wasnt great in club ball this past year because he just came off of knee surgery and was hesitant to go full strength. He also has shoulder problems. But over the high school season he has progressed and definately showed it during that state playoffs....i just watched the championship match and he had a very solid game. If he stays healthy and works hard in the off season, and builds more confidence, he could easily dominate his senior year. I think its hilarious people are saying he is bad......the kid has only been playing volleyball for a little over two years now. He won state as a sophmore, went to his very first nationals that summer and was awarded all american, and won state again as a junior.

Yeah he is obviously good but the reason I think a lot of people don't like him is because he could be so much better. Like someone else said "he's a waste of a 6'9" body". He is chubby and can't move very well and has no hops but is still good just because he is 6'9" and that pisses people off. If he lost weight and got into shape and started jumping any respectable vertical he would absolutely dominate. It's up to him.
And the DVC is the Dupage Valley Conference. It has WWS, GBE, Nap C, Nap N, etc...
