9. The "No, I AM SPARTACUS" Award (Best volleyball player on a hopeless team)
Outside for Wauk. West , I know he plays basketball too, taylor help me out with his name!!
I wouldnt say we are hopeless due to the fact we have 12 varsity players returning which idk ne one else who can say that. Bill (the OH) is turning into one of the best players in the state which is evident by his top ten kill total in the state. He was only 50 or so behind the Taylor Braun (yes he is a god) and had a whopping 33 in our regional game. Yes, our supporting cast is a little weak, we have two very inexperienced and short middles, both freshman who can only get better, but we also have a to be four year starting setter (Me) and a to be 3 year starting OH returning, so i would watch out for us a little next year. We may not be state tourney quality but we may make some noise in the classic 8 and in some tourneys. But then again, in the last 3 years we have only won 5 confrence games, which is not so good.

The two big teams in the SEC this year should be Horlick and Park, but Park should take it easily and will be a big contender at state, they just have to get there, they always have the talent, but havent been there lately, but i am picking them already as next year's State Champs! Watch out for Tremper to be top 3 next year in the SEC, losing libero and both middles, libero and big middle are HUGE loses, but we should be able to replace them with OK production!

Who would be the top team you could put together at each club age level? (based on people that are actually going to play club this year, especially at the 18s level).

Well I have a basic idea of some of the guys I want to put together for the 17's at North Shore. Guess we will see what happens. 18's for North Shore will be interesting this year. A few of the core players are talking about not playing, but we will see if that is true or not guys say that every year.

our AD made brock leave. we went this morning and storm trooped into his office. he told us to talk to our prinicipal. naturally she wasn't there, so we are having a meeting with her after school. it's stupid tho, that the school is going to kick our coach out when the vball program has no problems, yet the basketball transfers from king and custer steal cars and food from the cafeteria, this isn't right at all.

Just a by stander watching some volleyball! You guys did appear to struggle a little.
You have to get a rotation down when playing with girls and have girls that can set. However, from what I saw the other teams in the league are not that impressive. You guys should be able to beat every one you play, well maybe with the exception of the team you lost to this week.

My brother's roomate called me last night and he asked me to play back row in a front row men's quads A League out at the Pilgrim Community Center (a.k.a. Epicenter, a.k.a. Center Court). Our team is Kyle Olmstead (who is now a senior in college, set at Tosa East in high school), Andy Bagly (who is now a senior in college, was an outside hitter at Tosa East in high school), and a kid with the last name McKay, forget his first name (assuming he's a senior in college now as well, not sure though, and not sure where he played in high school, but he's a lefty opposite, Kyle told me he was All-American in high school and I believe it, he's a STUD).
I'm pretty sure the youngest person in the league other then me is a senior in college, it's kind of rediculous, not sure why I decided to accept the offer. We showed up Wednesday and our game was at 9:45 and we were told we were playing the best team in the league, and boy was it true (I hope). Our tallest player is 6'3" and their shortest was 6'5". Kyle said all 4 of them played Division 1 college volleyball, and you could tell they played together in a lot of quads leagues. I got domed off the top of my head. Their middle ran a slide, our blocker left line open, I was playing left back defense, knew it was coming line, had to just pray it didn't hit me in the face, and it hit off the top of my head. Their jump serves came harder then Steve's hits (no offense to Steve at all, just showing how rediculous these guys were). Stuck with them up until about the 15ish point mark each game, then they'd pull away a bit and win each by about 5-7 points. Nice guys though.

He is. His dad was the coach who started Heritage's vball
program, and he played opposite and set.
A number of years (4) ago, I set up a scrimmage
with them and a Classic 8 school's JV team (thinking
it would be an equal match w/ the younger McKay)
but his son was on a retreat and dad had to set in
his place. After they got killed in the 1st game,
we offered to provide them our setter but they
(most of them) manfully struggled on...
I believe the son played opposite in club and may
have being all-tournament at Nats at 17's.

Haha yeah, we had some good laughs about it at the banquet last night. He was taking some crap about it because it's the "You Don't Know Jack" award for volleyball playing cousins...his name is Jack and his older sister (my age) always complains about how everyone knows her as "Pat Foley's cousin," so that's how he's known on our team, so nobody knows him except as my cousin hah.

Very disappointing (but not surprising) decision.
He is a fine coach, with a state championship,
4 or 5 conference championships, a couple of
conf. POY's, many all-state players and a
ton of all-conf. players...and is a genuinely nice
guy off the court.
Not well liked by the CL8 refs, tho, who are a weak
bunch in general and until this last 2 years, were
almost all old (you would fear for them falling off
the ladders...I remember helping one down after
a long game). It was interesting to hear Brad's
comment that when Nicolet played at Pius this year,
he never had made so many complaints on refing in
a game...years of that would wear on anybody.
Here's hoping he doesn't get turned off to VB and makes
himself available for club. I hope pxishot{-in-the face??

Excuse me Jack? I seem to remember a practice where game 5 of a scrimmage was tied at 23, and you ripped two balls. I'm also pretty sure I made DIVING digs on both of them, and we won 25-23. Remember that time?
