Illinois’ Best Prep Players Participate for Charity

On Dec. 6, presented its inaugural High School Volleyball All-Star match in Palos Hills, Ill., featuring 36 of the state’s top senior volleyball players. Various sports writers and reporters from within the Chicago metropolitan area selected participants to form the two teams.

Team Pink eventually defeated Team White in five sets, with a number of Division I scouts taking in the event from Moraine Valley Community College and also some through a live stream on Kelly Lamberti of Cary Grove High School earned MVP honors with 20 terminations and five aces.

And while the event served as a way for high school athletes to showcase their talent to a wider audience, it also provided spectators the opportunity to contribute to A Silver Lining Foundation—proceeds from ticket sales were directed toward the organization in an effort to spread breast cancer awareness.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of the event, and especially the high level of game play that these girls brought to the court,” Peter Ferreri, Program Director of said in a press release. “The proceeds of the event were raised for charity, and I wanted that to stay a theme as even the official game balls were pink and white to reflect the event itself donated by Baden.

“Girls from all over the state were chosen and we had players drive in from over three hours away to participate in this event to display their skills one last time.”
