Spring into Summer

As the VBM staff was hurriedly putting the final touches on this issue and sending it out the door, we were simultaneously marking the first day of spring. For those of you in states that experience a snowy winter, spring can’t come soon enough. I often find that a sense of restlessness settles over this time when we know the worst of winter is behind us, but the sun isn’t shining quite bright enough for us to break out the beach towels and portable BBQ. For our readers who live in an area that doesn’t experience a frozen winter, my guess is you still sense somewhat of that restlessness in yourselves and your surroundings. You can feel the ground starting to give way to brighter and more verdant greenery; school is nearing its end, but isn’t quite there yet; you can see summer in the near distance, but you can’t experience its full joys quite yet.

But don’t fret. Once true summer does arrive, we will have you prepared and ready to hit the beach in style. Every year VBM creates a photo spread highlighting clothing items and accessories that we think will keep our readers on trend for the season. This year, we decided to pare it down even further and focus on just one thing – suits. Bikinis and boardshorts. When it really comes down to it, that’s pretty much all you need to play beach volleyball, right? (Well, a solid pair of sunnies never hurt anyone either.)

Veteran VBM photographer Ed Chan hit the sand with four beach volleyball pros to show you what we found for men’s and women’s suits this season. We were thrilled with the selection we found out there (and have already purchased some of the picks for ourselves, we just couldn’t resist) and are confident you will also find something that you like and will fit your needs. Now hit the sand!
