On Friday night in the UC San Diego RIMAC Arena, the Matadors of Cal State Northridge took all the right points to defeat the Tritons in straight sets. CSUN has won 40 of the past 41 meetings between these two teams.

John Baker, the 6’4” senior opposite for the Matadors collected a match-high 14 kills while hitting .379 and MPSF hitting percentage leader Jared Moore continued his dominance hitting .667. Setter Travis Magorien took three aces from the UCSD squad, all but one of the aces for the Matadors all match.

For the Tritons, Sebastian Brady scored a match-high .800 hitting percentage, putting down eight kills on 10 attempts and no errors. Libero Chase Frishman became the fifth player in program history to reach 500 digs in a career.

Although the Tritons were up 23-20 in the second set, they were never able to hold the momentum for long enough and finish it at the end of each game. The Matadors won with score of 25-23, 27-25, 25-19.
