In four games, the Long Beach State 49ers took down the Tritons of UC San Diego, a win that kept the 49ers ranked second in the MPSF behind BYU. Junior Dalton Ammerman had a stellar night, gathering a career-high 16 kills and nine digs. Taylor Crabb, also a junior, was only one behind with 15 kills and eight digs. The junior setter Connor Olbright led the offense to a .364 hitting percentage for the evening, while gathering a season-high 50 assists.

Vaun Lennon, a junior outside hitter for UCSD, celebrated his birthday on the evening of the match, and collected 11 kills and five digs.

Already these two teams have played each other twice. In their earlier meeting Long Beach also came out on top, winning in five during the Asics Invitational at UC Santa Barbara. The Tritons will have one last chance to redeem themselves in the regular season on March 6 when they play at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.

The 49ers are currently 6-3, while the Tritons hover at 3-6.
