Brought to life on the sand of Hermosa Beach, Cal., and inspired by the surfing and volleyball lifestyle, SMACK Sportswear debuted their summer 2012 line of apparel in that same iconic South California location. The Trunk Show and Wine Toast featured models strolling around in SMACK bikinis, hoodies, tee, bags, and other apparel items, and featured the music of Koolanesian Island Jazz. Players and fans were in attendance at Saint Rocke, a live music venue in the South Bay, on April 11 for the fashion show.
Ali Wood Lamberson, USA Volleyball’s Director of Beach Programs, was in attendance, along with several current players including Brooke Sweat, Matt Heagy, John Mesko, Iwonka Lodzik, Jenny Kropp, and Tyra Turner.
One of the biggest hits were the brand’s new “sublimated” beach shorts, which feature images of the 16th Street lifeguard stand in Hermosa and the widely popular Manhattan Beach Six-Man event. SMACK’s beach shorts are made of a high-tech, lightweight, wicking poly/spandex, which has lots of stretch for active movement in the sand.
SMACK has been creating custom designed volleyball apparel since 1994, and all of the beachwear is designed and tested by top pro players. Their Summer 2012 merchandise can be found here, here, and here.
