Former San Diego State volleyball star John Hyden (1992-95) was no stranger to success, garnering a number of awards during his four-year career as an Aztec. And on Nov. 5, Hyden’s accomplishments were duly recognized as he was inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame as a member of the 2010 class.

Named a first team All-American during both upperclassmen years at San Diego State, Hyden also led the country in kills per set (7.3) as a junior while he collected the nation’s most terminations in a single set (56) against Long Beach State that same season. Following his collegiate career on the hardwood, Hyden moved to the beach in 2001 where he ranked nationally in the top-20 over a six-year stretch. In 2009, Hyden might have had his best season yet, receiving AVP Defensive Player of the Year honors and culminating with a third-place tour finish at the end of season.
