The 8th Annual Jayo Invitational was held on Oct. 2. Sponsored by Coca-Cola, Mikasa Sports, Asics America and VBM, the event brought some of the best players in the sport together with celebrities and fans to promote health, wellness and sustainable living. The annual beachhouse.com Kids Clinic, hosted by Dain Blanton, encouraged children to make participation in the sport part of their commitment to an active lifestyle.
During the 6 on 6 grass tournament, crowds were entertained by live musical performances by Safety Orange and the Surf City All Stars, who performed during a live RockNRoll fashion show featuring the 40 contestants for the 2011 Miss California Pageant. In a unique twist of the event, teams were able to rent more pros to play for them to secure a win. Proceeds from the rental went to the Jayo Foundation to support “get out and play” opportunities within the sport.
This year’s group of pros included Gold Medalist Dain Blanton, beach legend Sinjin Smith, Olympic Silver Medalist Logan Tom and former Team Australia member Brett Alderman. Celebrities included Colin Egglesfield, Galen Gering, Miss California Teen USA 2010 Emma Baker and Al Santos.
