How far would you go to reach your dreams? Beach volleyball player Claire Kelly shows the world that she’d do anything for her biggest goal—competing in the London Olympics.
The Australian athlete has agreed to permanently mark up her body with tattoos of her sponsors, becoming a living advertisement. According to the Herald Sun, space on Kelly’s arms go for $10,000 to $50,000 depending on the size, and other spaces on her body could go for even more.
Kelly hopes that her unique effort to raise money will help her and her partner, Carla Kleverlaan pay to enter the International Beach Volleyball Tour, where they will compete to qualify for the Olympics. She hopes to raise $20,000 to $50,000 by July 8.
So will Kelly regret getting the tattoos? She said that her decision took a lot of courage, but it will be worth it.
“This is my dream and it seems crazy not to try to do something to realize the dream. We need to head off on the world tour before the end of July, we need financial backing, so I can’t let fear stop me,” she told the Herald Sun. “The tattoos signify having the courage to have a crack at something bigger, having the guts to at least try.”
