Songs to Sing To

Katy Perry, Firework

Summer is almost upon us and the anticipation of what the “summer anthem” is going to be is heating up. Will it be something off of Lady Gaga’s or Britney Spears’ new albums or a track that hasn’t hit the airwaves yet? Rest assured, there will be a song that defines the summer of 2011. While we wait for the dog days of summer, there are songs on the radio right now that will make a play for the summer anthem title even if they were technically released in late 2010. “Forget You” by Cee Lo Green and “Firework” by Katy Perry are both in heavy rotation and you just can’t help but sing along to them both. The same goes for Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In The World).” You know you have a hit when a song that’s meant to be a “girl anthem” has guys of all ages singing in the club like they’re alone in their car. As summer approaches, here’s a list of current songs to sing to, to get you through the last month of school or killing time at work until you can take that well-deserved vacation.
