Reno Bits

  • The Sports Shack 18-1 squad enjoyed a tremendous run en route to the 18's title. The team went a perfect 14-0 and 28-0 in game play. They defeated Rancho Valley 18-1's twice in the tournament. Rancho Valley was the top-rated team in the Southern California Volleyball Association.
  • The Borinquen Coqui club out of Puerto Rico won the 12, 13 and 14 titles. Temecula Valley was second in the tournament with a pair of championships (15 and 16).
  • The 16's division was the most populated this year with 224 teams. The 14's event featured 179 teams, while the 18's tournament had 121 teams.
  • The annual banner awards were handed out to a variety of clubs. Pitirres out of Puerto Rico won the award for "Best Banner Overall." Arizona Juniors won the "Most Creative" award for its banner. North Valley Juniors 16-1 Blue won the "Most Festival Spirit" honor, while Glass City Volleyball Co. out of Toledo, Ohio won the award for "Most Team Spirit."
